Joie Litetrax 4 review: sturdy buggy from birth to toddler

During the pregnancy we looked for the best pushchair to suit our lifestyle. I’m glad we found it, so I want to share with you my Joie Litetrax 4 review.

I had no clue of the buggy-pram-pushchair-stroller world before and I was shocked by the prices. Some people paid more than a thousand pounds for some brands! Some of the travel systems included too many features, or would only last for the first 6/12 months and then you’d have to get a different one. While some families would like that, we were looking for something quite different.

What we were looking for

We wanted a pushchair from birth to 3 years at least, with big wheels that would be fine in nature walks, easy to fold, with no need to have lots of storage room at home (for example due to multiple travel system bits that you remove/add). And, of course, preferably for a more reasonable price!

We looked for months, went to different stores to try pushchairs and compare them. And finally decided the Joie Litetrax 4 was for us. Since then, we have taken it to 4 different countries, uncountable forest and nature walks, daily walks in dry and wet weather. 2 years and a half later I can say it was a good decision, and the buggy is still going strong.

Joie Litetrax 4 review: Rain Cover

joie litetrax 4 review rain cover

The specifications of the product you decide to buy will clarify if it includes the rain cover or not. Our pushchair came with the Joie Rain Cover. It was not easy to use, it didn’t have clear instructions on the manual. I didn’t fold small, so it took a lot of space. In a few Facebook groups of mums, I actually saw people asking specifically how to put it on this specific model. It would take easily 2 minutes, and under pouring rain is not ideal. The image shows this rain cover.

It had holes for ventilation but no way of getting to the baby without dismantling half of it. So, to give your baby water, a snack or hold her hand you would struggle. For this reason, the plastic of the rain cover started to break on the side we used to get to her.

Only recently we found a universal rain cover that matches the size of the Joie Litetrax 4. It does not fit in most universal rain covers as the stroller is quite big, but this brand has an XL size which perfectly fits. It’s so easy to use, didn’t even have to read any instructions as it is truly intuitive. And it folds very small in a storage bag. I wish I had this from the beginning. We got it for a very reasonable price.

Footmuff for Joie Litetrax 4

When our little one was a baby, a cosy footmuff was a must for winter. Universal size footmuffs fit this pushchair because they tend to have lots of adapters to adjust as needed. We used a footmuff with super soft fleece, awarded by Made For Mums 2017.
